Resources for professionals to learn how to become an inspirational pen pal and how to become involved.

pen pal program

How to participate?

Please email connect@vingo.ngo if you have any additional questions.

What is my time commitment as the professional?

You will write and receive a minimum of one letter per semester. This usually takes 15 to 30 minutes per letter. Pen pals must agree to participate for at least one full academic year because we don't want students to lose their mentor after one letter.

Is there a writing workshop?

Yes if you're living in San Francisco Bay Area. All signed-up professionals must read and follow the Writing Guidelines we provide. Currently, we only offer this program for Vietnamese speakers and learners. Use simple words and try to write in Vietnamese or Vietlish since we are encouraging the students to learn Vietnamese.

Is there a location to meet up?

Yes, we host a letter-writing session with snacks every two months in San Jose where pen pals can come and write. We also provide fun markers, colored paper, or stickers for your letters. Alternatively, pen pals can write letters on your own time. You can mail us your letters to be scanned for content before we send them to the teachers.

What is the safety and legal protection of our Penpal?

To prevent any inappropriate content and language, we scan-read every incoming and outgoing letter. Teachers will be responsible for their student's and pen pal's letters.

What will you do with my personal information?

We use your address to send the letters to you in case you can’t come to our writing session. We don’t share your personal information to the teachers or the students.
